As the industry standard for HD production, the DVCPRO HD format offers users cost-effective, proven intra-frame compression, where each frame stands on its own for editing, and its full 4:2:2 color sampling allows the image to hold up under color correction.

Panasonic’s new frame-based codec AVC-Intra stands ready to move P2 HD to a higher level. AVC-Intra is the industry’s most advanced compression technology with twice the compression efficiency of MPEG-2 systems. AVC-Intra provides high quality 10-bit intra-frame encoding in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 for full 1920x1080 mastering video quality, and AVC-Intra 50 Mbsps for DVCPRO HD comparable quality at half the bit rate, thereby doubling the record time on a P2 card.
